A lovely sunny morning around the golf course with evidence of local breeding.

Unsurprisingly quiet this morning around Climping with small numbers of Med Gull and Sandwich Tern around the beach, 3 Whimbrel flew west, 2 Oystercatcher east and a Great-crested Grebe on the sea. Blackcap and Whitethroat present in small groups around Atherington, also a Bullfinch there. 2 Sparrowhawk, a  Kestrel with small numbers of Swift moving west.

Another cycle ride around Angmering Park estate entering from Crossbush and exiting from Long Furlong, produced singles of Hobby, Red Kite, and Sparrowhawk, 2 Raven around Kithurst Hill car park, several Buzzards and 3 Kestrel. 7 Corn Bunting singing around the gallops, with several of Yellowhammer, Skylark, Whitethroat, and Linnet. Small parties of Sand Martin moving west as well as greater numbers of Swifts and Swallows. 3 Song Thush, 2 Jay a couple of Blackcaps and my first Willow Warbler of the year at Long Furlong north of Patching Pond.

 Good numbers of Med Gull mostly adult along West Beach, in the region of 75+ with several Sandwich. 3 adult Ringed Plover, 2w Oystercatcher, and 3 Little Egret. A flock of 50 Linnet feeding amongst the veg shingle, with good numbers of Meadow Pipit present, a single Kestrel and 25 Swift feeding over the back fields north of the golf course.

Out  on the bicycle this afternoon and the highlight was a Red Kite over fields north of Poling, plenty of birds on the downs north of Patching with evidence of breeding Lesser Whitethroat, Bullfinch, Mistle Thush, several Yellowhammer, Linnets, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, 3 Kestrel, 2 Buzzard, and several of both  Swallows and Swifts drifting eastward.
