Sea watching at Climping was eventful for a couple of hours with a distant Shearwater west at 12:55, which I initially thought Manx but on reflection probably a Balearic, yet another that got away. Also 2 Artic Skua, 2 juv Little Gull a Black Tern, 31 Gannet, 25 Sandwich and 1 Commic Tern all moving west, and a Redstart in the overflow car park at Bailifscourt. 

Couple of hours watching the sea from Climping between 6&8. Lots of gulls moving W including 150+ Med Gull and 1 juv Little Gull. Also 1 Ruff. (RG)

 Highlights today were a Short-eared Owl over the dunes and 2-3 Tree Pipit briefly at the Mill before heading off west. Other records included: Sparrowhawk 2, Redshank 1, Ringed Plover22, Swallow 250 mainly E, Sand Martin5, Reed Warbler 7, Sedge Warbler 1, Willow Warbler 2, Chiffchaff 3, Whitethroat 29, Lesser Whitethroat 2, Blackcap 12, Redstart 1 camp site, Wheatear 7, Raven 1, Corn Bunting 1. I started this morning on my local reservoir (just 2 Common Sands etc) then went to Elmer Rocks at the Poole Place end.
The usual local waders and gull flocks. Not much else.

Eventually I got a few species on the Climping patch as follows:
 A Raven flew into trees in the Elmer set-aside corner, before eventually flying off east and over past Poole Place. photo.

Med Gulls - at least 200 on the rocks and amongst big gull flocks - most eventually drifted eastwards.

Swallow - 50+ drifted east, no serious count

Whinchat - 2 were in the arable field beside the concrete road farm track (actually Grevatt's Lane) amongst an area of sunflowers. (OM)

 Best birds from today were Red Kite 1 over, Redstart 2 at Camp Site, Raven several sightings including 4 over (family party?). Also steady trickle of Swallows E, 3 Wheatear and 3 Yellow Wagtail. RG

Also an adult Little Gull offshore at Elmer rocks, amongst the large gull flock there. OM

Highlight this morning was an adult Little Gull offshore with mixed feeding flock of gulls. 15+ Gannets also offshore. Otherwise fewer migrants than yesterday. Best was Common Sandpiper 2 on river, Whimbrel 2+ on golf course, Swallow 120,  Wheatear 3, Stonechat 4, Willow Warbler3, Whitethroat 12, Lesser Whitethroat 1, Blackcap 6, Yellow Wagtail 8. (RG)

 Chilly start and initially quiet around the bushes on the golf course early morning, but plenty of birds moving with a couple of Crossbill heard overhead and 6 summer plumaged Black-tailed Godwit went east. No sign of any Flycatchers today but a Redstart in the camp site was a nice surprise.

Good variety around the Climping/Atherington area this morning, and with rafts of Gulls offshore, the early warning signal paid dividends when they all alighted, producing an Osprey, tracking slowly west.

The first half hour was the best this morning, just after arriving at Bailiffscourt, with a couple of Spotted Flycatchers, a Redstart and a number of common warblers all seen in quick succession. Thereafter, things slowed down considerably with just regular species added. OM

Another fine bright day with the breeze increasing later in the morning. A Hobby drifting west over Bailiffscourt, was my 1st of the year, and at least 10 Wheatear along the beach with six in the setaside. Small numbers of Blackcap, Whitethroat and Willow Warbler, 25 Oystercatcher west and c150+ Med Gull in the area.

A quite morning around the golf course in a blustery west south west wind.  A Marsh Harrier seen several times around the Mill, West Beach and north of the Golf Course, a Green Sandpiper from West Beach and a Kingfisher along the Mill Path being the highlights.
