Little Gull east of Poole Place

Elmer Rocks: The prevailing easterly initially produced some vis.mig for barely an hour (0830-0930hrs) before it fizzled out – and it was much as yesterday but in smaller numbers. There was however a bit more over the sea today, the highlight being an adult Little Gull, which unexpectedly passed E very close to the shoreline, just behind the rock islands. A Sandwich Tern also went E whilst a few Brent flocks headed W. (OM)

Little Egret – 2
Brent Goose – 48W
Oystercatcher – 32 on beach
Little Gull – 1E (adult, 0930hrs)
Sandwich Tern – 1E
Skylark – 7E
Stock Dove - 45
Meadow Pipit – 30
Swallow – 16E
Goldfinch – 160E
Siskin – 65E
(also some unidentified things, probably some Linnets)
Coal Tit – 1 (Poole Place)
Chiffchaff – 4

Records for the 16th.
There was nothing much offshore except for a very few Gannets drifting W, whilst 15 Oystercatchers and 10 Turnstones were along the beach and on the rocks. Most of the action consisted of flocks of finches heading E along the coastal strip, though nothing unusual was located, and my vis.mig watch (0830-1000hrs) produced the following:-

Swallow – 6E
Pied Wagtail – 5E
Meadow Pipit – 30E
Skylark – 2E
Goldfinch – 390E
Siskin – 140E
Linnet – 15E
Also, a hunting Peregrine went E, whilst 4 Stonechats were along the long hedge and hotspot corner and at least 8 Chiffchaffs were present.
