Elmer Rocks: Although the sea was dead, there were lots of passerines about on the land, especially around the hotspot set-aside and the Poole Place areas. It felt like a day which should produce something good and although it didn’t reach those dizzy heights, it was certainly lively with common migrants, with hotspot corner living up to its name and Blackcaps and Chiffs everywhere. My minimum totals were:- (OM)

Chiffchaff – 60,     Blackcap – 40,     Whitethroat – 6
Willow Warbler – 1,      Reed Warbler – 1,     Meadow Pipit – 50,
Yellow Wagtail – 2+,     Pied Wagtail – 1,     Goldfinch – 30,
Bullfinch – 2,    Siskin – flock 18 low overhead, plus Swallows and a few House Martins
Buzzard – family party of 3, young constantly begging/calling
Sparrowhawk, 4 Green Woodpeckers and 2 Great Spots.
