5 Little Tern a single Whimbrel and 3 Sandwich Tern west of Climping Beach at 17:45
The Climping Gap remains one of the last undeveloped sites along the coast in West Sussex. This site is dedicated to Birds seen in and around the Climping Gap area by myself and a few die hard friends, that live in the area and have been birding the local patch for decades. Elmer Rocks – Poole Place: I sea-watched for a couple of hours (from 08:10hrs) and the first hour or so proved to be interesting, with some passage at last and my first Bonxie and Yellow Wagtail of the year, before it slowed right down as the cloud lifted. A search for passerines produced 3 Wheatears near Poole Place but not too much else. (OM)

Elmer, Monday 10/4:- I waited until the rain had subsided before making an early afternoon visit, but it was hard going in the windy conditions with plenty of glare off the sea. Highlights were a Velvet Scoter heading east (also seen at both the Bill and Worthing) and my first Common Tern of the year on the local patch……..(OM)
