The Black Guillemot off Climping Beach this afternoon, viewed initially from Poole Place , then flew east and picked up again 200 yards west of the car park. Too wet for the camera, so attempted phone scoping.

A summer plumage Black Guillemot still lurking around Climping Beach and up to Poole Place this morning, seen in flight and wing clapping maybe 200 yards offshore. A Whinchat in the horse paddock with at least 6 Wheatear.

Water Pipit

A nice surprise in the form of a summer plumaged Water Pipit showing well in the horse paddock off bread lane. Showed well for the usual suspects to connect but not seen after. Also a reeling Grasshopper Warbler from the back of the golf course and a Artic Skua east offshore. Combined totals below.

At last good numbers of common migrants around the patch, my first Wheatears of the year with at least 12 along West Beach, a Whinchat along the rife north of the golf course, and a Yellow Wagtail over head there.

Still very quiet in the patch today with the highlight being a Red Kite north of the golf course with at least 7 Buzzard and a Peregrine and 4 Firecrest around the bushes. Quiet offshore with 12 Mediterranean Gull, 20 Red-breasted Merganser and 13 Great-crested Grebe on the sea, 4 Sandwich Tern west and small numbers of Gannet lingering.
