A walk around Marsh Farm this morning in glorious sunshine but a bitterly cold easterly wind,  the highlight being a  Firecrest.

Plenty of Med Gulls on the tideline this afternoon, also c.100 Sanderling flew east, 8w Oystercatcher, and c.50 Turnstone.

Again very quiet in the patch, although good numbers of Med Gull c.200 and 105 Sanderling along the beach, also small numbers of both Oystercatcher and Grey Plover. A pair of Coal Tit again around Bailiffscourt and 2 Stonechat in the horse field.

Good numbers of Mediterranean Gull along the beach this morning, with in excess of 200 present. 11 Oystercatcher, 13 Sanderling,  27 Grey Plover and 1 Curlew also along the beach. 29 Red-breasted Merganser offshore with just a couple of Great-crested Grebe. Notably more Skylark in song from the fields, Mistle Thrush in longwood, 2 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, a single Saprrowhawk and 3 Goldcrest being the best of the rest.

A Golden Plover with small numbers of Grey, Ringed Plover and Sanderling on West Beach this morning, along with 25 Med Gull. Bullfinch and Water Rail heard along the back of the golf course which is very muddy, wellies essential. 2 Common Sandpiper from the foot bridge opposite the Arun View pub and a Peregrine on the gas tower.

Good numbers of Gulls along the beach this morning with c.50 Med Gull and hundreds of both Black-headed and Common Gull, a Kittiwake on the beach from the car park was a surprise but it being Half Term and a nice morning it didn't linger around very long. Small numbers of Red-breasted Merganser offshore and 9 Oystercatcher flew west.

Around the fields and bushes produced 2 Chiffchaff, 3 Stonechat, 5 Goldcrest, 12 Pied Wagtail, 17 Linnet, 5 Meadow Pipit, 9 Skylark, 2 Raven, 2 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel and a Great-spotted Woodpecker.

At least 2 possibly 3 Water Rail heard calling behind the reedbed. Also 2 Stonechat, 2 Bullfinch, 2 Skylark, 2 Mistle Thrush, and singles of Goldcrest, Buzzard, Kestrel, as well as 34 Grey Plover again in the fields.

Away from the coast and around Marsh Farm mid morning, glorious sunshine with a bitterly westerly wind.

Out before the rain with 25 Med Gull in the fields with 44 Grey Plover at the back of longwood, 2 Stonechat, 2 Goldcrest, 6 Song Thrush, 10 Pied Wagtail in the horse fields, also Skylark and Meadow Pipit present, and a single male Sparrowhawk. No actual count but good numbers of Red-breasted Merganser offshore.

Yet another uneventful morning in the patch, glorious sunshine with a biting wind.  2 Coal Tit, 4 Bullfinch, 2 Goldcrest, 2 Jay, Great-spotted Woodpecker and a Kestrel around Bailiffscourt. 2 Stonechat Atherington horse field. Small numbers of Meadow Pipit and Skylark in the fields. Offshore,  3 Great-crested Grebe, 8 Brent Geese flew west, 20 Med Gull, small numbers of Sanderling, Oystercacher, Turnstone and Grey Plover on the outward tide.

Very quiet in the patch again with a Treecreeper, 2 Bullfinch and a couple of Goldcrest Bailiffscourt, 20 Med Gull in the fields west of there, 15 Meadow Pipit, singles of Kestrel, Buzzard and Great-spotted Woodpecker. Offshore good numbers of Red-breasted Merganser with a few Great-crested Grebe and 4 Teal.

A very cold bright morning found the patch dispassionately very quiet with only a Raven around the old camp sight providing a little interest, two Buzzards also in the pine trees there. Very little else to report with 4 Goldcrest, 2 Stonechat and 20 Med Gulls in the fields west of Bailiffscourt.

Very quiet offshore this morning with just 1 Red-throated Diver west, 27 Red-breasted Merganser and 3 Great-crested  Grebe offshore. 10 Med Gull along the shoreline with small numbers of Sanderling and Turnstone.  50 Grey Plover flew west up to West beach. 1 Chiffchaff in the holtel grounds along with a couple of Goldcrest, Meadow Pipit and Skylark in the fields north of Climping Beach with a Jay, Kestrel and Green Woodpecker around Atherington.





A quick visit around Marsh Farm yesterday afternoon produced good numbers of both Redwing and Fieldfare, 2 Gadwall, 1 Great-crested Grebe 4 Snipe on the big pool, 5 Bullfinch, 2 Goldcrest a single Chiffchaff and 1 Cetti's Warbler heard.
