The Climping Gap remains one of the last undeveloped sites along the coast in West Sussex. This site is dedicated to Birds seen in and around the Climping Gap area by myself and a few die hard friends, that live in the area and have been birding the local patch for decades. A walk around Marsh Farm this morning proved very fruitfull with the area still flooded. A Bittern was flushed from the corner of the big pool, and had at least 6 Little Gull with C200 Black-headed Gull. 2 squealing Water Rail and a Cetti's Warbler heard added to the morning totals that also included 30 Fieldfare, 6 Redwing, 1 Great-crested Grebe, 6 Tufted Duck, 4 Wigeon, 20 Teal, 7 Gadwall, 1 Pochard, 2 Lapwing, 3 Buzzard and a male Bullfinch.

A Firecrest in bushes on the right hand side of the entrance to Bailiffscourt late morning, also 2 Little Gull flying west over bread lane then out to sea, c120 Sanderling, 7 Med Gull, 2 Buzzard and 30 Linnet moving north east. 1cy Kumlien's Gull still present from the river mouth.

The Kumlien's and Glaucous Gull still present at the river mouth from West Beach this afternoon, also 80 Med Gull mainly west this morning from Climping car park, also 65 Sanderling, 405 Turnstone, 3 Grey Partridge, 1 Reed Bunting, 2 Stock Dove and 3 Buzzard.

2 Little Gull in the flooded field off Climping beach this afternoon, along with several Med Gull, 1w Kittiwake and 3 Buzzard.
The Kumlien's and Glaucous Gull still present morning at the river mouth this morning. Also c80 Med Gull in the patch, 1 Little Gull and 2w Kittiwake off limping Beach with one being badly oiled, and 20 Brent Geese and 1 Diver sp east early morning.

The Kumlien's and 2nd year Glaucous Gull still present from the river mouth today still favouring the east arm. Also around the patch today 1 Little Gull, 20 Med Gull mainly from Climping moving east, c150 Turnstone, 65 Oystercatcher, 23 Ringed Plover, 2 Redshank, 1 Little Grebe, 1 Dunlin, 37 Sanderling and 1 Stonechat.

The Kumliens, Glaucous and 2 Little Gull still present from the river mouth today, also c40 Med Gull offshore along with several Red-breasted Merganser moving. 9w Common Scoter, 38e 2w Brent Geese, 1 Guillemot close inshore, c200 Turnstone on the break water and a fem Stonechat west beach. Reports today of 2 Dead Puffins and 4 Razorbill being washed up in the last few days.

The Kumlien's and Glaucous Gull still present from the river mouth this afternoon, also 1 Guilemot close inshore at Climping and 2 Kittiwake roosting in the flooded field, along with 65 Oystercatcher. Also in the patch today a Yellowhammer reported from the dunes, c140 Turnstone and 3 Buzzard.
A walk up the River this morning produced 2 Common Sandpiper, 17 Redshank, 4 Little Grebe, 2 Buzzard, 2 Grey Heron, 6 Fieldfare, and 20 Lapwing.

The Kumlien's Gull still present today at the river mouth along with 5-7 Little Gull, and a Kittiwake roosting on the golf course. The 2nd winter Glaucous Gull has been relocated further east on the beach at Rustington. Also today 1 Sparrowhawk, 130 Turnstone, 23 Grey Plover, 40 Sanderling and 65 Oystercatcher.

Kumlien's Gull showing well in its favourite late afternoon spot, on the breakwater at the mouth of the Arun.Two adult Little Gulls also there and two Med Gulls. Earlier from 08.00 - 09.30 2nd winter Glaucous Gull close to coastguard shelter, and a Kittiwake seen roosting on the golf course.

The Juv Kumlien's Gull still present from the river mouth along with a 2nd winter Glaucous Gull present until 16:20 at least. Also present 2 ad Med Gull and the adult Glaucous seen earlier this morning.

Up the River from the Marina were singles of Common Sandpiper, Little Egret, Grey Wagtail and 3 Redshank.

The Juv Kumlien's Gull still present today feeding in the river mouth on east beach from 10:00am, also the adult Glaucous Gull, flew east from east beach early morning and was relocated on the beach opposite the Leisure Centre. 1e Little Gull, 1 Med Gull, 1 Guillemot, 140 Turnstone, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit, 5 Meadow Pipit, singles of Redshank and Common Sandpiper at the Marina.

The adult Glaucous Gull was again seen at West Beach by the river mouth and on the Golf Course throughout the day, and also 2 Little Gull present. Also early morning came the report of a Juvenile Iceland Gull,that flew out to sea from West Beach, later scrutiny reidentified the bird as a KUMLIEN'S GULL, which was still present at 16:00 at least.
