Elmer Rocks

The sea was fairly calm, but initially seemed to be devoid of any birds, until I found a diver behind the rock islands. It was constantly diving and immediately appeared very black-and white, but I didn’t want to jump to conclusions, so I spent quite some while before confirming it was a Black-throated Diver. It eventually drifted slowly east towards Poole Place but much further out, until I lost it. Later a diver sp flew west…possibly the same bird?? There wasn’t much else; Gannet – 8E, Great Crested Grebe – 2o/s, Brent Goose – 10 o/s, R/b Merganser – 1W, and Common Scoter – 1E.

Two Stonechats were in the hotspot set-aside, whilst in the distance over 100 Brent Geese were flighting into the Climping arable fields. (OM)
