An afternoon visit to Climping Beach for an hour from 13:15 produced the following on the sea and along the beach.
Red-throated Diver - 2 os
Great-crested Grebe - 27 os
Red-breasted Merganser - 11
Common Scoter - 5
Wigeon - 1
Brent Geese - 11E
Sanderling - 75
Turnstone - c.100
Oystercatcher - 5
Grey Plover - 7
There was a dead calm sea on the falling tide with a few bits of interest offshore. Two Red-throated Divers (1E, 1 os), a Great Northern Diver os and 3 Common Scoter E which then dropped in were about the best, plus c.24 R/b Mergansers and 15 Great Crested Grebes. Along the beach were 20 Sanderlings, a few Ringed Plovers and Turnstones, a Pied Wagtail and 3 Med Gulls, before they moved on due to the inevitable disturbance. The woods and fields were disappointing with nothing noteworthy bar a Kestrel.
