The Climping Gap remains one of the last undeveloped sites along the coast in West Sussex. This site is dedicated to Birds seen in and around the Climping Gap area by myself and a few die hard friends, that live in the area and have been birding the local patch for decades. Elmer Rocks & fields There wasn’t much happening offshore and all I logged was 13 Brent heading W and 3 Great Crested Grebes. The field margins were similarly quiet with just half a dozen Chiffchaffs and a Goldcrest for my efforts.

Other highlights today included a Great Northern Diver well offshore and 2 Red Kites over the fields at Poole Place, soon drifting off westwards. Log below (0745-1100hrs):- (OM)

A Yellow-browed Warbler with the Tit flock at Atherington in increasingly blustery conditions this morning, also a Purple Sandpiper again at high tide in the flooded field east of bread lane.
An early evening visit to the patch found a Purple Sandpiper in the flooded field east of bread lane Climping Beach, also 13 Wigeon. Hundreds of House Martin moving through west, 150+ Med Gull Gull, 3W Sandwich Tern, 3W Grey Plover, 1 Kingfisher, 5 Little Egret, 6 Stonechat, and small numbers of both Chiffchaff and Blackcap.
