The Climping Gap remains one of the last undeveloped sites along the coast in West Sussex. This site is dedicated to Birds seen in and around the Climping Gap area by myself and a few die hard friends, that live in the area and have been birding the local patch for decades. (Please email your sighting's to lobas@btinternet.com or Tweet to @BirdsofClimping).

Started off a Marsh Farm, no waders present just a Little Egret and a Grey Heron on the pools and a Hobby flew past south west. Onto Climping which again was very quiet offshore with just 3 Common Scooter moving off east and a few Sandwich Tern west, and 2 Sanderling and 6 Oystercatcher on the rocks. Good numbers of Swift feeding over the fields north of Poole Place and c.75 Med Gull and singles of Whimbrel and Common Gull in the fields there. Best of the rest being a single Sand Martin west with small numbers of Swallow, 3 Grey Partridge, 3 Buzzard, 2 Little Egret and 3 Green Woodpecker.

River walk 6th July
Did the Arundel to LA route this afternoon to check on waders and gulls. It was rising tide so good to assess Common Sand numbers as they pushed up river, but not a lot south of Ford. Also hoped for a Yellow-legged Gull, but no sign yet. Too hot for many passerines.
Main counts from Ship & Anchor to LA (Arundel to LA in brackets):
Common Sand 3 (11)
Lapwing 5 (18)
Med Gull 1 (5)
GBB Gull 4 (5)
Common Gull 0 (4)
Black-headed 105 (275)
Herring Gull 147 (168)
Little Egret 12 (14)
At least 20 Stock Doves south of Ford and a Jay by L Marina the only other things of note, cheers, Martin
