The Cattle Egret still present around the Farm this morning and showing well. Also a Green Sandpiper flying around the back of the big pool. Good numbers of Gadwall still on the pool as well as a Great-crested Grebe, and Kingfisher.  Also c.75 Fieldfare  40 Redwing and 4 Bullfinch. Skylark present in good numbers in the field opposite Peregrine House.

Visitors are required to park carefully in the area and view only from the fenced off area.

A quick visit to Climping this morning produced 39 Curlew in the field at Climping Beach, c.70 Skylark and c.250 Brent Geese on the sea.

A few hours around the patch from 11:00 this morning, with the highlight being a Bonxie west bullying the locals Gulls. 15 Curlew in the field nortrh of the beach and the Skylark flock and Grey Partridge also in this field.

Brent Geese Climping

A fine cold bright morning at the patch covering West Beach and the back of the golf course. c.200 Brent Geese in the fields west of the mill path,  also 6 Grey Partridge there. Skylark present in good numbers with around c.80. 3 Stonechat, 9 Meadow Pipit, and 1 Reed Bunting around the dunes also small flocks of Goldfinch, a Kestrel and 25 Greenfinch. 5 Goldcrest and a  Treecreeper in first wood.

I took a walk around the Farm this morning and was presently rewarded with a Cattle Egret in a field with a Little Egret feeding amongst the cows. Also a Scaup on the big pool. Sorry no directions will be given on the Cattle Egret as it was well away from any public footpath.

Cattle Egret



Yesterday at Climping again very quiet offshore with the usual mix of Great-crested Grebe and Red-breasted Merganser, a single Red-throated Diver flew east close inshore and a Med Gull flew west. In the fields at Climping were  9 Oystercatcher and 8 Grey Partridge, a Rock Pipit along the beach near Poole Place, the Brent Geese numbers increased to 87 and still good numbers of Skylark in the area with a flock of 14 seen coming in off the sea.

Not much moving offshore Thursday morning, save for a few distant Auks moving east and a few Great-crested Grebes on the sea,  so another tramp around the fields and bushes ensued producing 43 Brent Geese, c.40 Skylark in the field at the bottom of Longwood, 2 Reed Bunting, 1 Stonechat, c.60 Pied Wagtail, 20 Meadow Pipit and small numbers of Linnet.

Very slow again this morning at Climping, with very little moving offshore, apart from a few Brent Geese. Settled on the sea were a single Red-throated Diver, 3 Red-breasted Merganser and 25 Great-crested Grebe from the car park up to Poole Place.

Yesterday the Eider was still off West Beach, a couple of Grey Plover there, 4 Brent Geese in the field west of the Mill and 6 Grey Partridge.

Singles of Eider, Red-throated Diver and Guillemot close inshore at West Beach, this morning with small numbers of Teal, Wigeon and Brent Geese moving west. Finches still on the move mainly featuring Goldfinch and Linnet, with a couple each of Redpoll and Siskin. 35 Meadow Pipit around the golf course with several Pied Wagtial and 2 Stonechat.

The bird of the morning which I didn't see was a Long-tailed Duck on the sea at Climping Beach before flying off west, reported on the SOS found by (AK)

Good numbers of Grebes offshore this morning with 2 Slavonian drifting slowly west and 23 Great-crested Grebe, also 3 Red-breasted Merganser,  5 Mediterranean Gull, 17 Siskin and 16 Grey Partridge.

With the patch uninspiring I took a wander around Marsh Farm this afternoon.
