Brief visit to the patch this morning with a look around the paddocks and Bailiffscourt before a return to the sea found only the 2 Coal Tit worthy of note. 1 Great Skua along the beach and 25 Gannet around a pair of trawlers offshore from the car park.

Golf Course fest

Best day of the spring so far, with groups of Willow Warbler in every bush. Out and about from 06:40 still not early enough to beat the ground staff who were about with the movers and 06:30, nevertheless a good productive morning.

Marsh Farm

A couple of hours spent wandering around the Farm this morning in glorious sunshine although still a tad chilly early morning. Found a  few fisherman camped on my arrival so not as quite as I had hoped for.

A nice Ring Ouzel near the Mill Cottage this morning, followed by  2 Coal Tit at Bailiffscourt for one lucky observer. Also a Cetti's Warbler, 3 Whitethroat, 5 Willow Warbler, 10 Chiffchaff, 6 Swallow and a Whimbrel. (ES)

Early evening visit around the Farm produced my first House and Sand Martin of the spring amongst the many Swallows. Reed and Sedge Warbler in full song along with a couple of Cetti's in the reedbeds.

Ditto as yesterday really although a Red Kite over the golf course late morning was a nice surprise and my first Sedge heard along with Cetti's Warbler from the footpath. A Common Tern flew over the mill cottage, and a few more Swallow on the move was about it.

Out late due to other commitments, nevertheless still a bit of variety in the patch. Linnets present in good numbers and plenty of birds in song around the back of the golf course.

08 April, 2016

A quick romp around the golf course this morning didn't produce the intended goodies, with only singles of Cetti's Warbler, Stonechat, Bullfinch and Little Egret. A good number of singing Chiffchaff, Blackcap and a few Willow Warbler in the area, and  small flocks of Linnets on the move west along with 5 Med Gull  offshore.

Later received reports of a male Redstart at Longwood, 1 Reed Warbler 4 Blackcaps, 13 Chiffchaff and 2 Jay.

A fine spring morning with a hint of a sea mist offshore. Nothing moving over the flat calm sea, so once again it was time to beat the bushes.

3 Firecrest ( 2 in bushes by water vole stream opp old hut + 1 in horse field in between Bairds house and the bungalows )
