The Climping Gap remains one of the last undeveloped sites along the coast in West Sussex. This site is dedicated to Birds seen in and around the Climping Gap area by myself and a few die hard friends, that live in the area and have been birding the local patch for decades. (Please email your sighting's to lobas@btinternet.com or Tweet to @BirdsofClimping).

With plenty of coverage in the patch again this morning unfortunately resulted in little return for the efforts, highlights being 2 Brambling, Coal Tit and Rock Pipit. Still a good movement of Finches on the move although in reduced numbers from the past week, and small numbers of Hirundine continue to feature. Pied Wagtail present in good numbers this morning with c100 and 3 Grey Wagtail. The best of the rest being Kingfisher, Mistle Thrush and Water Rail heard from the reedbed.
Yesterday Sat 18th 4 Short-eared Owl flushed from the dunes at West Beach was a memorable sight.

Wed 7th Oct Atherington - Climping
I flushed a small bird from the long grass of the right hand field off bread lane this morning. It was no more than about 12 feet away at the closet and dived over the rife giving a weak single call, I though at the time a possible Quail. Checking the area and walking the over side of the rife I came across the decapitated remains of a corpse, pictures attached below, hope it will not put you off your dinner.
