A Peregrine on the Gas Tower at 1030 this morning, Singles of both Green and Common Sandpiper around the farm with 1 Buzzard and 1 Sparrowhawk. Several of both Reed Warbler and Chiffchaff, with 15 Teal, 3 Tufted Duck, and 2 Sand Martin. Onto the patch where the Hoopoe wast still present,  also 2 Lesser Whitethroat.

Fem/imm Merlin, 70 Yellow Wagtails, 20 Whitethroats, 20 Willow warblers and 90 Linnets

The Hoopoe still present at 0930 but elusive this morning, also 1 Whinchat, 2 Redstart, 1 Swift, several Whitethroat, Blackcap, 2 Reed Warbler, 1 Little Egret and 5 Curlew.
HOOPOE which flushed from near the bungalows, settled briefly for a record shot, then flew towards the horse paddock and out of sight. Also in the area, Redstart - 9, Yellow Wagtail - 80W, Chiffchaff - 12, Willow Warbler - 45, Reed Warbler - 6, Sedge Warbler - 2, Lesser Whitethroat - 7, Whitethroat - 25, Wheatear - 24, Blackcap - 10, Garden Warbler - 4, Tree Pipit - 2, Grey Wagtail - 3 and Sand Martin - 70.

An Osprey reported flying west about 1 mile out this morning at West Beach, 08.20 ish. Lucky to spot it (seawatching of sorts at the time). Also a few Wheatear and Whitethroat.

8 Mediterranean Gull flew out to sea from Bread Lane field this morning, also1 Redstart and 1 Spotted Flycatcher at Bailiffscourt, and 1 Common Sandpiper on the River. Generally very quiet in the area with still small numbers of each of the common warblers around and lots of Juv Goldfinch present.

Very quiet at the Farm this afternoon with still 2-3 Green Sanpiper, 1 Common Sandpiper, and 1 Little Grebe.

After being domestically committed for over a week, it was a relief to be out birding again this morning, so I decided on a trip down to the local patch. A Little Ringed Plover flying W and calling along the shingle beach was a surprise, but otherwise it was all fairly average; 20 Gannets W, 4 Sandwich Terns and a juv Med Gull offshore, 6 Wheatears, 1 Whinchat, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 12 Whitethroats, 3 Lesser Whitethroats, and about 6 each of Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff.

4 Green Sandpiper, 1-2 Common Sandpiper,  3 Buzzard, 2 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Grey Wagtail, and several of both Reed  and Willow Warbler.

14 August, 2010

Marsh Farm:  3 Green Sandpiper, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 2 Common Sandpiper, 1 Kingfisher and several Reed Warblers around the pools.

Climping: 2 Redstart, around Baliffscourt, late morning also 1 Buzzard, several Blackcap and Whitethroat in the area with 3 Wheatear on the beach.

Climping Gap

2 Common Sandpiper, 1 Whimbrel, 1 Little Ringed Plover, nr A259 bridge between 0800 & 1100 this morning, also 15 Wheatear, 4 Garden Warbler, 1 Redsart, 20 Willow Warbler and a Peregrine.

3 Green Sandpiper, 1 Little Ringed Plover 1 Common Sandpiper, several of both Swallows and House Martin, Willow Warbler, Blackcap, and Whitethroat in good numbers and 1 Tufted Duck, 4 Teal, and 1 Grey Heron make up the days totals.

08 August, 2010

1 Little Ringed Plover, 2 Green Sandpiper, and 2 Common Sandpiper still present this morning, also 1 Buzzard, 2 Grey Heron, and  good numbers of  Yellowhammer, Blackcap, Whitethroat, Willow Warbler and Reed Warbler, with several small flocks of Swallow moving.

Still present today are 1 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Green Sandpiper and 2 Common Sandpiper, also 3-4 Bullfinch, several of both Blackcap and Willow Warbler, and a flyover calling Whimbrel.

Quick walk around the farm late morning produced 1 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Green Sandpiper, 2 Common Sandpiper, 1 Buzzard, 1 Grey Heron and plenty of Willow Warbler.
