Made a fairly short visit this morning, starting with a short sea-watch which was a waste of time….just a couple of Gannets, 4 distant Kittiwakes west and a dozen or so Med Gulls back and forth. It wasn’t long before the very high tide and strong wind made it almost impossible to carry on, with waves and spray continually breaking over the beach and shore.

A Grey Wagtail was in the flooded car-park and there were 6 Pied Wagtails dotted about the area, plus 15 Meadow Pipits, 5 Skylarks, 2 Reed Buntings,  a Chiffchaff, 30 Linnets and 50 Goldfinches. Two Buzzards and a Kestrel were also seen. The small highlight was along Bread Lane, in the set-aside where the wooden footpath cross-roads post is….two Stonechats with a Dartford Warbler flicking about beneath them in the kale/weeds. (OM)
