 A little variety this morning with a Dartford Warbler, not usually seen in the patch this time of year, which could indicate a nesting bird. A Corn Bunting and Whinchat around the set-aside with 2 each of Ringed and 2 Little Ringed Plover. 3 Lesser Whitethroat in the area good numbers of Whitethroat, Reed and Sedge Warbler, at least 4 Cetti's Warbler heard and singles of Wheatear and Yellowhammer.

Two Pomarine Skua went east from Climping car park this morning although distant, but passage was very slow with just 19w 21e Sandwich Tern, 8w 7e Gannet, 1w 2e Whimbrel, 8w Oystercatcher, 2n Med Gull 1e Ringed Plover, 1 Swallow and 1e 3os Great-crested Grebe.

A Hobby over  the set-aside this morning was the first report of the year, as was a Whinchat in the field south of the old camp site. (DB) The Little-ringed Plover still present this morning as well as the Lesser Whitethroat in the old horse paddock. 2 Wheatear present, a Mistle Thrush in Bailiffscourt, and a Common Sandpiper around the rocks at Poole Place. Quiet offshore with just small numbers of Gannet and Sandwich Tern, with 6 Great-crested Grebe on the sea.

No reports of any Hoopoe sighting today, but the first two Little Tern of the year went east this morning, as well 4 Whimbrel, Fulmar, Brent Geese & Common Scoter moving through east.
A report of a Corn Bunting, a scarce bird for the patch seen today, and good numbers of the usual array Warblers in and around the golf course.(AH & RP)

A Hoopoe gave some visitors the run around this morning, firstly seen in Elmer by (OM) then flying west, then the same bird or another seen from Climping Beach in Cudlow field south of Bailiffscourt. Also this morning a Marsh Harrier reported by (DB) seen flying over the set-aside, and good numbers of Whitethroat around the site.

 No sign of the LRP today but a female Black Redstart at the of the Mill Path found by (DB). 4 Wheatear around the setaside, 4 Swallow and a Swift moving east, and notably more singing Willow Warbler and Blackcap.  Very quiet offshore.

An afternoon visit to Medmerry for the Least Sandpiper.



A glorious sunny morning with a brisk north east wind keeping movement to a minimum, the undoubted highlight being a male Redstart in the hedgerow west of bread lane from the old camp site.
