Very quiet this weekend in the patch, with today a Treecreeper at Atherington with a couple of Golcrest, 8 Grey Partridge, a male Stonechat, Kestrel and 4 Meadow Pipit around the horse paddock and c.60 Grey Plover west beach. Offshore good numbers of Red-breasted Merganser and a lesser numbers of Great-crested Grebe, 3 Gannet flew west.




Yesterday mid morning c.50 Med Gull along the tideline, 2 Buzzard, 1 Stonechat, 5 Pied Wagtail, 3 Goldcrest, 2 Song Thrush, 3 Jay and a Common Sandpiper inn the Marina.

Very quiet again at Climping but three year ticks for the year with a Chiffchaff at Poole Place, a Grey Wagtail also there and a single Shoveler flying west. Plenty Of Red-breasted Merganser offshore and smaller number of Great-crested Grebe, with a single Red-throated Diver offshore from the car park.

A quick visit to the patch produced c.60 Med Gull  feeding offshore and 16 Brent Geese flew west. Around the horse paddock 2 Bullfinch, 2 Stonechat, 10 Pied Wagtail, 17 Linnet and 5 Meadow Pipit.

At Climping beach this morning in very grey dark conditions, produced very little of interest offshore with 45 mainly adult Med Gull along the shoreline and small numbers of Brent Geese.

Cold grey cloudy day at West Beach with large numbers of Gulls along the beach, alas no large white wingers.

Records for Sat 6th

A few birds of note this morning, particularly a pair of Goosander  east, quite close, and 5 Pintail west. Also very good numbers of Med Gull, at least 60, but probably many more, almost all adult. Otherwise quiet on the sea, with 8 Red-breasted Merganser, and 4 Diver sp west. (RG)

A short visit to West Beach found it very quiet offshore, although good numbers of Waders roosting on the beach.

A timely first visit to the patch this morning resulted in two good year ticks in the form of a Goosander flying west close inshore and a Bonxie moving east.
