A very grey murky day with the highlight of a  Goosander flying east close inshore at Climping Beach this morning and good numbers of Red-throated Diver and Red-breasted Merganser offshore.

A very cold grey morning had me optimistically thinking that yesterdays Black Guillemot at Elmer, might do a u turn and venture back into Climping waters. Alas not to be, but a good couple of hours nevertheless.

Today I recived a call late morning from (OM) of a Black Guillemot seen just outside the patch at Elmer Rocks. Unfortunately the time I arrived on site the bird was drifting slowly further west and viewed from the 1st rockpile from the west. Also there today c.400 Brent Geese flew west, 1w Red-throated Diver, several of both Great-crested Grebe and Red-breasted Merganser and 30+ Sanderling along the tideline.

Not a lot of interest around the patch this morning with just 4 Stonechat around West Beach, also 45 Greenfinch amongst the veg shingle there with a single Linnet and 2 Meadow Pipit. At least 3 Bullfinch in the area, and small numbers of Goldcrest amongst the Long T Tit flocks. A  Cetti's Warbler heard from the back of the golf course and a Kingfisher flushed from the sluice. Singles of Jay, Buzzard, Song Thrush and 2 Great-spotted Woodpecker had me heading home.

A miserable wet dark morning found myself wondering if I should return home for an hour or so. A Ring Ouzel amongst several Blackbirds around the old camp site made me glad I didn't. At least 4 Firecrest in the area with 1 at Kents and 3 in longwood.

Received a report of a Short-eared Owl in the dunes at 10.25. Disturbed by walkers then dropped back into the dunes, also 6 Swallow.

Same number of Goldcrest and Chiffs as yesterday, but now with 2 Firecrest in 1st wood from the back of the golf course.  Around the Bailiffscourt/Atherington area despite good coverage there were few birds with just a single Firecrest, 4 Chiffchaffs, 12 Goldcrest, 2 Stonechat and 2 Jay.

Climping Beach from 02:15 with nothing moving offshore except a few Gannets, 4 Great-crested Grebe on the sea, 4 Sanderling flew west and a single Auk sp. The highlight if you could call it that was the presence 3 Rock Pipit on the beach.

A sea watch from the car park at 15:15 yesterday for an hour produced 225 Brent Geese moving west, also 15 Wigeon, several of both Gannet and Med Gull and a Great-crested Grebe on the sea.

2 Dartford Warbler in the Tamerisk at Climping Beach this morning 100yds west of the Car Park. Singles of Eider and Great-c- Grebe on the sea, 65w Brent Geese and plenty of Med Gull patrolling the beach, with small numbers of Sandwich Tern and Gannet also on the move. Up to 12 Stonechat, 9 Wheatear in the area and plenty of Meadow Pipit in the fields with several small flocks in off the sea.

Again nothing to get excited about, with a few more Finches on the move and still plenty of Med Gull in the fields. The four Whinchat still present in the rife from bread lane and 2 Shag on the sea at Climping Beach. A White Stork reported over the river mouth at 11:15 was not seen again.Still plenty of hirundine on the move with good numbers of prodomintly House Martin early morning.

A nice bight morning turning more blustery my mid morning. The highlight being a Hobby flying over West Beach dunes and out to sea. Four Whinchat in the rife looking east from bread lane.

A Pied Flycatcher at Kents Cottages and a Whinchat in the paddock were the only reports today.

Yesterday concentrating on the Atherington/Bailiffscourt area produced 15 Goldcrests, 20 Chiffchaffs, 4 Blackcaps, 100+ Meadow Pipits, 15 Swallows, 40 Goldfinch and 6 Skylarks over.  Nothing moving over the sea.
