A quick visit to Marsh Farm yesterday evening produced the first evidence of successful breeding for the Great-crested Grebe, with four chicks. Reed and Cetti's Warbler still singing 4 Swift and Swallow hawking over the big pool and 4 Pochard still present.

Couldn't resist the major rare in West Sussex, the Hudsonian Whimbrel  at Church Norton showed well for at least an hour and half  from 08:00 on Tuesday 16th June.

And while getting a twitch fix popped over the border into hampshire  and caught up with the Greater Yellowlegs at Titchfield Haven although had to wait around until 18:30 when the bird flew down the river and observed from the road.

A few more shots from my trip into Hampshire.

A couple of hours spent in the patch this morning produced very little, 2 Mediterranean Gull flew west, small numbers of Sandwich and Common Tern lingering offshore along with 2 Great-crested Grebe, 2 Sanderling along West Beach, 2 Grey Partridge at Climping car park and 10 Swift.

A beautiful sunny morning with a hint of a north easterly breeze saw me trekking along Climping beach. Small numbers of Gannet and Sandwich Tern feeding offshore with singles of Common Tern and 2 Great-crested Grebe. Good numbers of Whitethroat, Reed Warbler and Blackcap still in song and pairs of Buzzards, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel soaring over Poole place along with small numbers of Swift. Reed Bunting and a Grey Partridge along the beach being the only other birds of note.
